Cody Comptom has been with us for about 2 years! Since then, he's maintained his commitment to the process, getting stronger, faster, and fitter. It has been fun to see him surprise himself quite often. He lays low, but is known to crush some bodyweight movements. He's been working on his gainz in the USAW Club, and has already seen 2 PRs. He's an amazing supporter, showing up to many competitions and events. Judy has been with NoCoast since we opened! We love Judy's commitment to the process here, at NoCoast. She doesn't get bogged down with pushing weights and numbers, she simply works out. This is a great example to many of our athletes, and even more powerfully, to her peers outside of the gym. See, Judy is 65 years old, a mama of 2, and a grandma of 3. Brett Luna started at NoCoast in 2015, and we are excited to ring in the New Year with him! He is loaded with a good amount of athleticism as it is. That's clear when you see him do endurance workouts. But, Brett doesn't hang out in any kind of comfort zone. He pushes his limits and expectations without much hesitation. Since coming to NoCoast, he's tackled anything that comes his way, most notably the Oly lifts. He ended 2015 with a bang by competing in the Alpine CrossFit Holiday Weightlifting Meet. Your December Athlete of the Month is Sarah Smiley! She's pretty new to NoCoast, but she came in with a mission! She is determined, putting in extra time to conquer her goals. When she's not doing the work prescribed, she's practicing double unders or muscle ups, not letting a single goat own her for too long. She quickly moved to Black Track, as she has a competitive drive. Mark Leach recently had his two year anniversary at NoCoast. It prompted me to reflect on how much he has transformed! He has lost 30 pounds, going from 190-160. He has been able to move in a completely different way than when he came in. After reading his answers, I felt that THIS is what we are all about. Serious life-change and completely turning around the trajectory of people's lives. Mark is healthier, happier, and adding years to his life by changing how he lives! Read on!

When Sara started at NoCoast, we were excited about all the potential she packed. She moves very well, is coachable, and despite what she might think or say, very athletic! It's a treat for us, as coaches, to watch an athlete come in with a pretty solid foundation to build on. Then it's all about stacking up skills, gains, and finding mental strength and confidence in the gym. Shad Mika is an endurance athlete who CrossFits to support his main objective: run forever and ever. We are so impressed by his accomplishment in becoming a Leadman this summer! In his last race of series, he completed a 100 mi run, all above 10,000 feet above sea level in 24:00:36. This was preceded by a trail marathon, a 50 mi mountain bike race, 50 mi trail run, 100 mi mountain bike race, 10k run, until the final 100 mi run. Kylie Davis is a young, dedicated, and focused individual. She makes progress quickly, and even in the short time she's been at NoCoast, she has really developed as an athlete. At not even 20 years old, she's a part of a growing movement of young ladies who buck mainstream media's message of how a woman should be using her body. As a hockey player, lacross player, cross country athlete, and now CrossFitter, this girl is functional! We love it and the example she sets for her generation.
