Congratulations Lani, you are our July Athlete of the Month!
Lani has been a part of our NoCoast community for about 9 months now, but has already made a tremendous impact. It has been a lot of fun to see her confidence grow within the gym as her strength and skills have improved, and friendships have been gained. Lani’s consistency, hard work, and natural abilities have been paying off with each week that passes by! We love seeing her at our community events and appreciate her fully jumping in! Thank you for your dedication and support, Lani! We are excited to continue watching you grow inside and outside of the gym!

Athletic/Sports history/highlights:
I've been immersed in volleyball since I was a kid, and I still play in a Women's 4v4 league. Additionally, I love rock climbing and have been doing it since I was a teenager. I like both bouldering and sport climbing, whether indoors or outdoors.
How long have you been CrossFitting? How did you get into CrossFit?
I ventured into CrossFit last fall, seeking a change from running after feeling a bit burnt out. A friend suggested trying it out, so I attended an introductory session at NoCoast, and from that moment on, I was hooked.
What is your favorite WOD/CrossFit movement?
I really like the high-intensity cardio type movements, like burpees, box jumps and running. I know that makes me weird!
What is your least favorite WOD/CrossFit movement?
Given my limited experience with weightlifting, I find barbell movements quite challenging. My goal is to one day keep up with Sharon!
What is your most memorable CrossFit moment?
There are countless memorable moments, but what stands out the most is the camaraderie at NoCoast. It's inspiring to train with a supportive group that constantly motivates and uplifts each other.
How does nutrition play a role in your fitness and recovery?
Maintaining a healthy diet can be tricky with two kids—I mean, who can resist the occasional Oreo? Nonetheless, I prioritize whole foods and minimize processed ones to support my fitness and recovery.
How has CrossFit improved your overall wellness?
CrossFit has significantly boosted my strength and really just my overall fitness, which enhances my well-being in tangible ways.
How has CrossFit changed your family?
I joined CrossFit during a period of significant change within my family, where I was feeling somewhat isolated. The community at NoCoast has been incredibly welcoming—it's been an amazing experience to feel part of such a supportive group.
Advice to new people:
Starting CrossFit can feel daunting, and the initial weeks are the toughest. But pushing through has made me stronger and happier every day—I'm so grateful I took that leap.
